2019 Advanced tax return for the banker

Event Details

The session will begin with a brief review of analyzing a business owner’s personal “1040” tax return and the return of an LLC, S corporation, and C corporation including Schedules M-1 and M-2, Schedule K-1, pass-through transactions, and other deductions.

TThe remainder of the seminar will cover the following “advanced” tax topics related to business clients:

  • Corporate Tax Issues including Business Structure, Section 179 Depreciation, and Bonus Depreciation
  • Investments including Capital Gain/Loss Issues and Passive Activities
  • Real Estate Issues including Rentals and Home Offices
  • Employer Provided Benefits including “Qualified Retirement Plans” and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)
  • Retirement Planning Strategies including “Defined Benefit” Plans & Captive Insurance
  • Estate Planning Issues including Gift Taxes
  • Year-End Tax Strategies
  • Recent Changes to the Tax Code that impact Business Owners

Each of the seminar topics will be presented from the perspective of more effectively working with the bank’s business customers.

Registration FEES

The fee for the seminar is $325 for UBA Members and $490 for Non-Members. The fee includes all seminar materials and lunch. The deadline for registration is Thursday, February 28, 2019. $25.00 late fee applies after that date.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received prior to February 28, 2019 will receive a full refund. Cancellations received after February 28 will be charged a $50 processing fee. Substitutions are always welcome and encouraged. All cancellations and substitutions must be submitted in written format prior to the event.

David L. Osburn is the founder and managing member of David L. Osburn & Associates LLC, a Las Vegas-based business training and contract CFO firm that provides seminar/keynote speeches for various groups including CPAs, bankers, attorneys, credit managers, trade groups, and business owners. He also serves as a contract CFO for a large multi-state construction company, co-manages a bank educational program with the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and is a board member of North Star Business Services, a commercial lending company (commercial real estate and equipment financing).

In addition, David is an Adjunct Professor for Regis University, an accredited MBA program and the College of Southern Nevada, a community college. He has taught college course for over 22 years, covering Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing, Banking, Business Law, and Management. He earned an MBA in Finance/Marketing from Utah State University and BS in Finance from Brigham Young University. He is also a graduate of the University of Oklahoma National Commercial Lending School.
